09/04	Shu-Bing and Xiangwei attended the Cold Spring Harbor meeeting: Translational Control. Shu-Bing gave a talk entitled "Deciphering translational re-programming using high resolution ribosome profiling".

10/12	Shu-Bing visited the Institute for Nutritional Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in Shanghai.
09/26	Shu-Bing attended the Cold Spring Harbor Asia Meeting (Protein Homeostasis in health and diseases) in Suzhou and was selected to give an oral presentation.
09/22	Shu-Bing visited the Buck Institute for Research on Aging and gave a seminar entitled "Linking nutrient signaling and protein homeostasis in growth and aging".

01/07	Welcome, both Soonhyun Lee and Soonchoel Lee will join our lab as postdoc research associates.(see People). Soonhyun received her PhD from Boston University, while Soonchoel from Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

11/10	Congratulations! Shu-Bing was selected by DOD for Exploration-Hypothesis Development Award. (see Chronicle News ) This Award is a two-year $100,000 grant for tuberous sclerosis complex research.
10/01	Shu-Bing visited Jonathon Yewdell's lab and gave a presentation entitled: "Genome-wide analysis of ribosome dynamics and mRNA translation".
09/30	Shu-Bing attended 6th Annual NIH Director's Pioneer Award Symposium. The Symposium was held at North Bethesda Marriott Hotel.
09/02	Welcome, R. Alex Coots joined our lab as rotation graduate student (Nutrition). Graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a Biochemistry major, Alex is interested in nutrient signaling.
07/24	The Qian Lab seocnd annual picnic party was held at Stewart Park. (see party pics at Gallery). We had a good time with BBQ at the bank of Cayuga Lake.

07/12	Botao Liu joined our lab as a G&D graduate student. (see People). Graduated from Zhejiang University, Botao will study nutrient signaling and mRNA translation.
07/06	Shu-Bing and Ben's research paper was accepted in *J Biol Chem. (see Publications*) The paper has been selected as the "paper of the week", with top 1% significance.
06/07	Welcome, Josephine Lee joined our lab as a summer research etudent. Josephine is a CALS junior majoring in Nutrition.
05/20	Congratulations! Ben's daughter Stella was born. She weighted 7 lbs 10 oz .
05/09	Congratulations! Jane's daughter Iris was born in the early morning. This is Jane's first baby

04/29	The Qian lab had a baby shower party for Jane Sun and Ben Zhang. We are expecting the second generation of our lab members from Jane's family and Ben's family..
04/05	Cassandra (Vic) Innocent decided to join the lab as a G&D graduate student. Graduated from City College of New York, Vic is interested in exploring life science using genetic approach.
03/30	Shu-Bing gave a Biomedical Sciences departmental seminar entitled "Chaperone Stress in Growth and Aging". This talk was held at Veterinary Research Tower.
03/08	Elliot Kahen joined the lab as our first BMCB rotation graduate student Graduated from University of Florida, Elliot is interested in protein biocemistry.
03/05	Shu-Bing gave a MBG departmental seminar entitled "Lost in Translation: a Tale of Protein Birth and Protein Death". This talk serves as a BMCB field application seminar.

09/24	Shu-Bing received the prestigious NIH Director's New Innovator Award ! (see Chronicle News and NIH announcement) This award is a five-year, $1.5 million grant for highly innovative projects that have the potential for unusual high impact.
09/01	Josephine Lee joined our lab as undergraduate researcher. A CALS junior majoring in Nutrition is interested in doing laboratory research.
08/01	The Qian lab had the first annual picnic party at Dr. Qian's house backyard (see party pics at Gallery). The party also served as a welcome party for Dr. Yan Han, the new postdoc in the lab.

06/22	G&D graduate student Crystal Conn decided to join our lab. Graduated from Pennsylvania State University, Crystal is interested in genetics and development using mammaliam system.
05/10	Shu-Bing received Integrated Research Grant from Nanaobiotechnology Center. This research project is a collaboration with Chen lab in the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology.

10/10	Najah Levers joined our lab as undergraduate researcher. A member of the Hunter Rawlings III College Presidential Research Scholars, Najah is interested in laboratory research.
08/01	Ben (Xinqian) Zhang joined our lab as a postdoc research fellow.. Ben received his PhD from Shanghai Jiaotong University. He had one year postdoc research exprience at Florida Atlantic University.
